Enjoy a family train ride covering twelve miles lasting approximately one hour over the last remaining portion of the New York Central's Ashtabula to Pittsburgh "High Grade" passenger line. The "High Grade" ran from Ashtabula via Youngstown to Pittsburgh with a branch to Oil City, PA.
The Ashtabula, Carson, Jefferson Scenic Line travels though scenic woodlands and back farmland between the quaint village of Jefferson to Carson, a staging yard for Norfolk Southern's coal operation in historic Ashtabula harbor. In route crossing over two bridges with many areas undisturbed in over a century of railroading. On board snacks and souvenirs are available in our Club Car.

The AC&J Scenic Line operates weekends from early summer through Labor Day weekend and resumes on the last weekend in September through final weekend in October. Operating dates and departure times are shown on our
schedule page.
Reservations for parties under 20 are not needed, for groups over 20 please call us for reservations. Large groups and tour operators need to make reservations at least two weeks in advance. We operate a full-size train with passenger cars built in the mid 1920s. One is a former long-distance coach with air-conditioning. Two others are commuter cars having windows that open and ceiling fans, plus an open car, weather permitting.
All enclosed coaches can be heated and there is one lavatory on board.
The round trip lasts one hour and covers approximately twelve miles. Travel is through back farm country,
crossing over two bridges, through woods and ending at Carson Yard. Many areas seen are undisturbed in
over a century of railroading.

Private charters are available weekdays (except Monday) for motor coach tours, church groups, etc. There
is a minimum rate. Please inquire for details.
On board snacks and souvenirs are available in our club car.
Due to the age of our equipment, the AC&J is not handicap accessible.
