Travel back in history to "Yester-Year" and enjoy an hour long family train ride covering twelve miles over the last remaining portion of the New York Central's Ashtabula to Pittsburgh "High Grade" passenger line. This line once ran from Ashtabula to Youngstown and Pittsburgh, via the P&LE, with a branch to Oil City, PA.

The AC&J Scenic Line travels through scenic woodlands and back farmland between Jefferson to Carson Yard, a staging point for Norfolk Southern's coal operation in historic Ashtabula Harbor, in route crossing over two bridges with many areas undisturbed in over a century of railroading.

On board snacks and souvenirs are available in our Club Car. Movement between coaches is permitted while under way, small children must be accompanied by an adult.

Our operations are from mid summer through the end of October. Check our schedule for weekends of operation as we do not run continuously through the season. Groups under 20 persons do not require a reservation, for those over rates are available but require a reservation a week in advance and single payment when riding. Motor coaches are welcome with advance notice. For more information please see our tour & group pages.

Coaches used date from the mid 1920's, two are former commuter cars having openable windows with ceiling fans, one fully air-conditioned with lavatory and in season an open car with a roof. Enclosed cars can be heated in cooler weather.

Due to the age of our equipment we are not handicap accessible. Boarding is from a ground level platform using a traditional step stool plus three steps, hand rails are available.

Protective footwear is required, flip-flops are discouraged and bare feet prohibited. Private charters are available weekdays (except Monday) for motor coach tours, church groups, etc. There is a minimum rate. Please inquire for details.
